Main Characters:

Milanda/Eva: Milanda is a girl that lives in the time that world war 2 happened. Milanda’s family is pro and she wants a chocolate cake for her birthday, so they ask her best friend’s mom for sugar. Later on in the story, after the party a few days later, the Nazis came and arrest Milanda’s brother and father. A day later all women get arrested.

Terezie: Terezie is Milanda’s best friend that went to school with her and once had a crush on Milanda’s brother. Also Terezie is the best friend that gave the sugar for the chocolate cake.

Jaro: Jaro is Milanda’s brother that is a little mean to Milanda and is a little rough with her.

Ma and Pa: Milanda’s parents. Milanda’s dad is a really good man that works hard and respect every body.

Ruzha: Ruzha is a girl that Milanda knows from school but is not her friend. On Milanda’s birthday party, Ruzha ruined Milanda’s day because she told  Milanda that she was ugly and other things that hurt Milanda’s feelings. Milanda had no choice because her mother said to her that she is going to be invited to the birthday party.

Overview of Novel:

Someone Named Eva is a really good book to learn about Hitler, history and life back then. The first three chapters you will learn about Milanda’s birthday party, how her family and Eva gets arrested by the Nazis. Her family members are really nice people and they are also poor. Milanda’s birthday party is coming up but they don’t have sugar or money to buy sugar, so they ask her best friend Terezie. Then, Jaro and Pa get arrested by the Nazis.

What happens when the Nazis arrest her brother and her dad. They get arrested to be a soldier. Later in the story, all the women and young girls also get arrested by the Nazis. But instead of making them soldiers the Nazis take the women and young girls to a gym. In the gym, they get checked by a doctor and just stay there for a few days. Then the Nazis take all the young to a big camp to be trained to serve Hitler. Two years have passed and a family wants to adopt her. They adopt her and the family that adopts Milanda is really rich. They are going to throw a party for Milanda because she is a new member of the family.

There are a lot more things to learn from this book it is really good to learn new things. Even though the story is not true, the actions of the Nazis is real and also inspired by World War ll.
